Towards the end of July, Monomoy’s beaches become the hot spot for migrating shorebirds to stage. Here they can take advantage of the island’s rich food resources, low human activity, and wide spaces to prepare for their post-breeding migration south. We’re seeing red knots, dowitchers, sanderlings, many kinds of sandpipers, yellowlegs… the list is long. Instead of just writing about them, here’s a video we’ve made instead.
