I’ve really enjoyed rowing. Highlights of my career so far have included winning regional and national championships with the College of Charleston rowing team, a little adventure alongside the University of Rhode Island, sculling in Philadelphia at Undine Barge Club and Vesper Boat Club, and joint Craftsbury’s Green Racing Project for some pre-Olympic qualifier training trips in Florida.

With the 2021 Olympics postponed until next year, it’s an interesting and sometimes difficult time to continue training, but it also serves as a reminder that I enjoy rowing (and activity) for its own merits, not just as a means of achieving some minor glory. As College of Charleston head coach Travis Landrith frequently said, “there are no shoe deals in rowing.” He also said “some people want to coach, and some people just want to be coach,” and we’re still analyzing that one.
